Carrying these beliefs causes unavoidable pain. Most clients say it’s like having a taskmaster sitting on one of their shoulders, constantly criticizing, never satisfied. But that’s only how they describe it once they become aware of its existence! Again,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the first, and, in some ways, most challenging, step in healing is developing a witness to the commentary. This process of noticing, developing a witness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and de-fusing from the beliefs can take months, if not longer. It’s often a struggle to remember to pay attention to what’s occurring in the silent and invisible inner world of psyche, especially when life keeps most people moving too quickly to listen inside.

This false belief then creates the illusion of control, which has to be dismantled once the ego is strong enough to handle the truth about ones’ primary caregivers. The illusion of control is a lifeline for a young child because it creates the belief that your actions can alter your mother’s or father’s behavior. And sometimes this false belief was validated: if your father’s love, for example, was conditional upon you receiving good grades in school, then your illusion was confirmed: receiving love is dependent on my perfect achievements. This can be even more difficult to dismantle as an adult because there’s a powerful part of you that truly believes the veracity of this statement.

After becoming de-fused and developing the witness, the healthy process is one of pulling out the false beliefs by the roots while simultaneously strengthening the core self. Over the course of several months, as the lies are replaced with loving truths using a process like Inner Bonding, the serpent naturally crumbles and the true self emerges victorious. Again, this can take time and patience is required. When the wounded self realizes that its defense system is fading, it usually rears up with renewed force. This is the cycle of healing: phases of deep connection to the core self followed by a resurgence of the wounded self.
These beliefs are often heard internally in the third person and,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], thus, could be written like this:
Sadly, this running commentary isn’t usually something positive and self-affirming like,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “You’re a beautiful, loving person. You deserve love. You are worthy, kind and smart.” On the contrary, the most common running commentaries are rooted in fear-based lies that develop in early childhood as a way to protect the core self from the potentially shattering truth that ones’ caregivers are incapable of giving you the kind of love and attention that you needed. In other words, instead of telling yourself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “My mother isn’t capable of meeting my needs because she’s too wounded,” which would be devastating for a young child to assimilate, you told yourself, “If I’m perfect – if I’m beautiful enough or smart enough or competent enough – I will get the love I need.”
You’re not a good person.
No one likes you,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Things aren’t going to work out.
You’re not capable of love.
You’re a horrible person.
You’re doing it wrong.
You’re not worthy of love.
You have to be perfect in order to receive love.
You’re flawed.
At some point in my counseling work, I hear a recurrent belief or thought that surfaces for my clients. It’s the belief that tends to wreak havoc on my client’s psyche, the one that’s been with him or her since childhood. Most people are so fused with this false belief or negative thought that they can’t even hear it. It’s like the news banner that runs across the bottom of the TV screen: you know it’s there and you subconsciously absorb the information but you don’t give it much thought. In other words,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it’s always in the background,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], like a running commentary.
In some ways,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however, it’s beneficial to encourage the process to unfold slowly. Because these false beliefs take root in early childhood and become fused with one’s true self, extracting them too quickly can cause emotional collapse. I often imagine that the beliefs are like a boa constrictor spiraling around the radiance of the core self. The constriction is so long-standing that it becomes fused to the core and when it’s ripped away too quickly, the core self loses part of its structure and collapses. This can lead to depression and despair.
This is also a process of transition, for as you allow the wounded self and its accompanying beliefs to die, you make room for the birth of new ways of being and thinking. Many people experience this is a death and,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as most are resistant to change of any kind (even when its positive and life-affirming), they will resist letting go of the familiar. For it most be stated that the wounded self,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with all of its negative thoughts and outdated protection systems, is as comfortable and familiar as a well-worn sweater: its full of holes and no longer functional but its hard to let it go. As you release the running commentary that has guided your life, be prepared to grieve its loss. Only then will you be able to embrace the new stage of life that awaits you.
The first step in dismantling the false beliefs is to become aware of them. For most people, the beliefs are so intimately fused with their unconscious that they don’t even know they exist. In other words, the beliefs become the default position that informs nearly every action of their lives without conscious and informed consent. Some of the most common running commentaries are:
I’m not a good person.
No one likes me.
Things aren’t going to work out,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
I’m not capable of love.
I’m a horrible person.
I’m doing it wrong.
I’m not worthy of love.
I have to be perfect in order to receive love.
I’m flawed.

Personality plays a pivotal role in both skills. The issue is that each skill lies at the opposite pole of this one specific personality dichotomy: The Extavert/Introvert dimension.
Jung theorized that people at some point in life will reach a state of individuation, brought upon by some kind of stressor or event that leads an individual to have to explore the other side of the dichotomy in order to find balance and fulfillment in their life.
Carl Jung, a Swiss psychologist,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], psychiatrist, and personality theorist,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], believed that there are two sources of energy for humans, and that we each have a preference towards one or the other. He also believed that all humans are capable of both. He called these two personality preferences Extraversion and Introversion.
If you think you are the only one suffering, take another look around. There is a pandemic of managers and employees who are struggling at work. Frustrated, resentful, and unhappy.
I was having tea with a friend yesterday morning. We were talking about a transition she is making in her life,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. She recently left her employer in pursuit of a dream. The problem: she doesn’t know what the dream is. She left one thing to head towards another. The “other” is unknown.
The Keys to Happiness
Bring On Individuation
As an extravert, I was wandering aimlessly through life, latching on to one interesting adventure after another, searching for the one that would fill my heart with joy. As my journey proceeded, my happiness seceded. There came a point where I was so desperately sad that I needed to make a change.
Will my friend find happiness? I firmly believe she will. So can you.
I’m going to describe to you how it works. How your personality type is impacting your happiness, and what you can do to increase your happiness now and for years to come.
In essence, this is what happiness is. A continual effort at becoming aware of what you truly want, and taking the steps towards it. Happiness forces you to respect both sides of the dichotomy.
Extraverted people gain their energy from external sources – friends, groups of people, TV, movies, parties, theatre, people watching, and anything that creates activity and buzz outside of our personal bodies. Extraverts are action oriented, and will pursue decisions quite readily.
Enter the world of personality theory. Personalities are powerful,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It is amazing that one simple aspect of our individual personalities can have such a profound effect on our happiness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Let me explain.
The key to happiness for introverts is to learn to behave like extraverts. Introverts know what they love. They are often already clear on their values and their passions. The secret is to act on it more assertively. Once introverts start to go after what they want, they can also become easy manifesters. Setting their intention, and then taking the small steps towards those dreams and aspirations are all that is required.
Introverts also have it tough. In North America, extraversion is highly valued in business. Offices across the continent are taking down walls, and replacing offices with open work environments. Brainstorming is valued above individual thought and reflection. Extraverts in North America seem to rule the roost, while introverts suffer to tolerate their incessant chattiness and exuberance. Introverts are being forced into environments outside their preference,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and are suffering from energy drain that is impeding their fulfillment.

Extraverts on the other hand seek gratification externally. We spend less time listening to our hearts, and more time acting on anything that catches our attention. I know. I’m an extravert.
Introverted people gain their energy from within themselves – from their own thoughts and ideas, self-reflection, quiet spaces, a good book, and high quality time with close friends and loved ones. Introverts are more pensive and like to have their personal space preserved.
Happiness is a state of being. It occurs when one knows their true hearts desire, and is consistently acting on it. Happiness requires two skills:

The key to happiness for extraverts to is learn to behave like introverts. Take some alone time and start to really listen to your thoughts and feelings. This means getting really clear on your values, knowing your purpose, and understanding your passions. It includes creating an awareness of what you truly want in your life. But by doing so internally, rather than looking for it externally.
Extraverts, once they know what they want,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], are easy manifesters. When you know what you want, and act on it, things start to happen and your happiness increases. Extraverts are action oriented. It can work really well.
Let’s look at my friend. She has reached a challenge in her life. She is approaching a moment of transformation. When I asked her if she thought she was an extravert, she said “oh, absolutely”. When I started talking to her about listening to her heart and understanding what she really wanted for her life, it was a foreign concept. She looked struck with unfamiliarity.
Some of us know this as the “mid-life crisis”. But it can actually happen at any time in one’s life. It is the time in one’s life when transformation occurs, and the dichotomies of one’s personality begin to merge.
What’s an Extravert and Introvert?
So, while extraverts might seem happy, they often are not. They are often unaware of the inner conflict taking place between what their heart wants, and what they are actually doing. Eventually,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we become overwhelmed by all the activity in our lives. The disconnect between the activity and our personal passions goes unnoticed until we are forced by health or by stress to begin to look inside ourselves.
People who prefer introversion are especially adept at listening to their hearts. They have developed, over their lifetime, an innate ability to self-reflect and identify with their own desires.
Introversion saved me. I started looking inside. I listened to my heart, and realized what I wanted to be, to have, and to do.
This is huge. It is the world’s best kept secret. Once you realize how to manage it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], your world will change and happiness will be more present.
As I spoke with my friend I explained to her my journey from extraversion, through introversion and back again. She listened with amusement and maybe even a hint of scepticism.
She knew she was unhappy. She knew she had to make a change. The question remains: will she find happiness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
When you stay in your comfort zone, your preferred side of the extravert/introvert dichotomy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you experience challenge. When you challenge yourself into the other side, you attract support and happiness.
Once this was in my consciousness, I relied on my extraversion once again to take the actions necessary to pursue my dreams. I shared my intentions with people. I asked for help. I received it in abundance.

I plan on allowing myself plenty of time to take space, rest, and recharge my energy while there. I’ve already talked to Tom about exchanging lots of relaxing hugs, and keeping the lines of communication open,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], clearing the air as we go along. (I find that when I sweep things under the rug, I end up getting the rug pulled out from under me!)

Example: I’m using The Magician ally to help me visualize myself in Vegas having a wonderful time. I see and feel myself being centered, relaxed, and happy, playfully being with whatever,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and whoever, shows up. I imagine myself enthusiastically telling friends after the trip, “I had a great time!” My Magician energy is helping me envision this as if it is already so. And so it is.
THE LOVER
Description: This archetype gently guides us in facing, feeling, and embracing whatever’s happening. I’ll use that an example to illustrate how we can use these super powers in dealing with life’s challenges:

Example: I check in with myself, asking, “What are you feeling about going to Las Vegas?” As I explore this, I’m aware of feeling concerned that I’ll be stressed, over-stimulated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and depleted by the big energy of the Vegas trip. I’m afraid the stress will suppress my immune system and trigger my cancer, which seems quiet and dormant right now. I don’t want to awaken the beast!
Example: I ask myself, “What do I need to do to help myself stay calm and centered while in Vegas?” Here’s the action plan I’ve come up with: I will take 10 deep abdominal breaths throughout the day. That triggers my Vagus nerve (how appropriate for Vegas!), which in turn triggers my immune system and my relaxation response. I will also dance and wiggle my pelvis like Elvis every day for at least ten minutes to reduce tension.
I say Viva Las Vegas, and Viva the Lover, Magician,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Warrior, and King! Accompanied and aided by these four formidable allies (and my fantastic husband), I plan on having the time of my life!
THE MAGICIAN
Description: This archetype holds the super power of imagination, vision, creativity, and thinking outside the box. It shows us new possibilities, new ways of seeing things,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], new ways of being. It invites us to imagine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “Who would I be without this issue, this fear, this story I tell myself?”
THE KING/QUEEN
Description: This archetype is our higher self. It is the energy of love and joy. This super ally encourages us to: “Remember who you are. Remember that you are a beautiful soul. Remember that you are on a mission to discover and express your inherent magnificence.” It sees the higher truth and the deeper meaning in everything.

Speaking of beasts, as I go deeper I’m aware of another fear I have: when I’m stressed, my Pandora’s box of embarrassing personas has been known to burst open and out pours the likes of Ms. Huffyton, Chopped Liver,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], The Incredible Sulk, Miss Fit, and the dreaded…Ms. Thunderfull! Oh my!
My Lover ally smiles knowingly, and embraces all these many me’s, all the meany, moody, messy me’s. I know that when these parts of me aren’t invited to the party, they tend to crash it. The Lover welcomes ALL of who we are with open arms.
Example: As I tune into my higher self and view the Vegas trip from my soul’s eye view,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I see that it is a perfect opportunity to practice being fully present in the midst of big energy, to keep coming home to my heart, seeing myself and others, even Vegas, from this loving perspective: “Namaste Vegas -- the higher being in me sees the higher being in you.” I intend to look for the joy and beauty in everything around me.
THE WARRIOR
Description: The Warrior archetype confronts, takes action, and gets things done. It is firm, direct, practical, and purposeful. It asks questions like, “What needs to happen here?”

It is very difficult to understand the symptoms of depersonalization since the sensations can be very disturbing and unreal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. During an episode a sufferer may feel detached from their body as if watching themselves. Sufferers often report that they felt they were being controlled like a puppet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
More importantly however, there is much a sufferer can do to reduce and prevent panic attacks from occurring. Surprisingly there are millions of sufferers out there that have not looked for help. Often this is because sufferers simply do not recognize or acknowledge their condition.
Panic disorder usually develops in adulthood. Although the exact causes of this disorder are unknown it often occurs in people with other mental and physical disorders including depression and insomnia. In addition a person who suffers from a lot of mental stress is more likely to develop mental illnesses.
Anxiety in itself is actually very normal. It's our own natural defense system telling us something isn't right. Maybe you're late for an important meeting or you forget that you left the oven on. Believe it or not,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's fine to feel anxious at these times.
The chemical changes that occur in the brain and body during an anxiety attack are similar to those of panic attacks. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sufferers usually report episodes as being completely out of the blue. Attacks may happen even during sleep. Not surprising they are extremely frightening and disturbing experiences.
The main differences between anxiety and panic attacks are the symptoms and also the intensity. Palpitations, a racing heart and sweating are common symptoms that occur with both attacks. But panic attacks can produce other symptoms such as derealization and depersonalization.

"Gina" (not her real name) came to see me today, and we did EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) for when she was separated from her son. And what came up in the session was a reason why she became addicted to cocaine, thereby losing her son.
Gina has been clean since going to rehab nearly three years ago. Before that, she was in a very abusive, emotionally violent, and physically dangerous marriage. And she started abusing cocaine and alcohol as a way of coping with her marriage. She genuinely did not realize what a bad thing it was to pass these chemicals down to her son via her breast milk. She did not even know that her son was being poisoned on a regular basis. And so her ex-husband took the baby away,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], did a drug test on his urine, and then applied for and got custody. This was a very painful experience for Gina, who felt very close to her son,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and he totally collapsed afterwards as a result. We tapped on various aspects, such as "Even though he said I will never see my son again..." and brought the pain from a 9 out of 10 to a 6, finally ending at a 4 for now. This was great progress,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as before, she could not even give me a number,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but simply tapped and talked after having a good cry.
Gina was suddenly distraught again,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], full of remorse. "I didn't know he would get the cocaine with my breast milk", she said. And so we tapped for "this guilt" and "this remorse". And then I tapped on Gina as I explained to her that in Cape Town, it is often seen as shameful to admit to being depressed or go for help with an emotional condition. I said maybe if it was perfectly acceptable to go to the doctor for depression then, the doctor would have prescribed medication to help her and either told her to stop breast-feeding or found a way to give her a solution that allowed her to continue breast-feeding. However, in the absence of that option,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Gina bought cocaine instead. Gina was nodding empathetically all the way through, and she felt much better afterwards. All that remained was perception. It is common for drug-takers in Cape Town to take drugs and then work or do the housework or chat to friends. Drugs are usually not taken recreationally in Cape Town. They are taken in an addictive way. I tapped on Gina as I explained the difference between an addict and a recreational user, so that she can help her son if he ever gets into that situation. She said "Oh,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so a recreational drug user would have expressed her milk and thrown it away until the cocaine was out of her body?" to which I reassured her that a recreational drug user would not have taken drugs during the period of pregnancy and breast-feeding. I also explained that she can be proud of being clean for all this time now, and be proud of what she is making of her life. Gina left this session looking relaxed and reported feeling much calmer.

Keep focused and strong towards your goal with these three tips :
REMEMBER THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS FAILURE

How many times have you not followed something through because you were afraid you might fail? I bet numerous times.
However you are not alone, because most people have; no one likes the idea of failing. The very notion of failure makes us feel ineffective, weak or lacking in some way.
3) As you work towards your goal you may come across obstacles and setbacks, don't view these as failures. The two are very different. An obstacle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], setback means only one thing: you haven't completed your goal yet. That's it no more! no less! It certainly doesn't mean you have failed; far from it! Just keep moving forward on the right track to achieve your goal.

2. A State of inability to perform a normal function adequately

4. A lack of success
Take a closer look at the above definitions and you'll probably see one common theme when it comes to goal achievement: failure is only a PERCEPTION in your minds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
1) Don't allow yourself an excuse as justification for not doing or completing something. The majority of people do this without realising. If you are going to commit your self to achieving a goal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], see it through to the end, don't quit because the going gets tough no matter what, never ever contemplate failure or lose that determination.
If you think or believe you have failed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then guess what,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], You have! If you think or believe you don't have what it takes to succeed, yet again you won't! Understand that failure only exists in your own mind, nobody else's! The second you decide to give up means failure is created.
