A woman miraculously survived a multiple stabbing attack and fall from a 100 m cliff and lived to tell police that the assailant was her husband.
The woman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who works in Suwon and was identified only by her surname Goh (44),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and her husband,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], identified as Choi (56), were vacationing in Gangwon Province and got into an argument on July 19. According to police,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Choi suspected that his wife was seeing another man. He took her to an empty lot and began to drink as he interrogated her. At some point he flew into a rage and grabbed a fishing knife from his car and stabbed her four times, piercing her chest and abdomen. The knife just missed her heart, doctors at Samsung Hospital in Sokcho said. "Just 1 cm deeper and she would have died instantly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," they added.
Her abdominal wound damaged a major vein in her lower body. But the knife did not scathe the main artery, which would have been fatal.
Choi then pushed Goh into his truck and headed to the nearest hospital. But when he saw that she was motionless,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he drove to Misiryeong pass instead, according to police. When they reached the top of the pass, she regained consciousness and asked her husband to stop the car, saying she felt sick. Police said Choi then pushed her off the 100 m cliff. She grabbed his arm and begged him not to kill her,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but he pushed her off. Because of the late hour there were no other cars.
Goh tumbled down the cliff and is believed to have landed on a boulder 20 m below, which broke her fall. "When I woke up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it was dawn. All I remember is climbing up along the grass,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], avoiding the slippery rocks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," police quoted her as saying. She was found covered in bruises after falling several times as she attempted to scale the cliff.
Goh was discovered by a passing driver in the early morning of July 20,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 19 hours after she had been pushed off the cliff. The driver found her lying in a fetal position on the side of the mountain pass. It remains unclear exactly when and how she managed to reach on the road,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but police believe the fetal position helped stem blood loss and saved her life.
"The chances of surviving an attack like this is less than a million to one," police said. Goh is on her way to recovery, but is suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder and is undergoing psychiatric treatment.
Police said the couple met two years ago but repeatedly broke up and got back together again. They finally married in February of this year. Choi is reportedly asking for forgiveness.

A commission under the Prime Minister's Office has drawn up a report on imperial Japan's mobilization of Koreans into forced labor in a coal mine on Hashima Island,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a spokesman said Thursday.
Hashima,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 18 km from Nagasaki Port, was a prison island with a harsh natural environment and working conditions. According to the report,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some pits were more than 1,000 m deep,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with seams under the sea bed. The victims' skin was permanently infected as seawater sometimes flooded into the pit and toxic gases rose from the rock wall.
That is why Korean and Chinese laborers instead of Japanese were sent into such mine. One survivor testified the mine shafts were too low to stand up straight and the temperature was over 45 degrees Celsius,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Hashima was completely isolated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Laborers who attempted to escape were soon caught and tortured,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Some survivors even tried to cut off their own limbs as a way to leave the island,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Many of the Korean laborers were then pressed into restoration work after the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb on Nagasaki in August 1945,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where they were exposed to residual radioactivity.
The commission believes as many as 800 Koreans were forced into labor on Hashima in 1944-1945,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the final years of the Pacific War. It has identified only 134 victims,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 122 of whom died on the island.

Israel and the Islamic guerrilla group Hezbollah in Lebanon are moving toward a prisoner swap,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Robert Berger reports from the VOA bureau in Jerusalem.
An Israeli negotiator went to Europe to receive a Hezbollah report on missing Israeli airman Ron Arad,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whose plane went down in Lebanon in 1986. Arad was captured alive by Shiite militants, but disappeared two decades ago. Hezbollah has claimed that the trail on Arad went cold.
The report is the latest step in a broader prisoner swap, in which Israel will exchange several Lebanese militants and the bodies of Hezbollah fighters for two Israeli soldiers whose capture sparked the Lebanon War two years ago. The soldiers are believed to be dead.
Both sides say the prisoner exchange could take place as early as next week.
A young boy rides his bicycle past pictures of Lebanese prisoner Samir Kuntar in the southern city of Sidon, Lebanon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 03 Jul 2008 The deal has aroused controversy here because Israel plans to release Lebanese prisoner Samir Kuntar,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], responsible for a 1979 terrorist attack that Israelis perceive as one of the most brutal ever. Kuntar was convicted of killing a man in front of his four-year-old daughter and then crushing her head with his rifle butt. The man's wife accidentally smothered their two-year-old daughter in an effort to keep her quiet in a hiding place in their apartment.
Kuntar also killed an Israeli policeman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whose family has appealed to Israel's Supreme Court to stop the prisoner exchange. The policeman's brother,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Yoram Shachar,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], says releasing Kuntar is an outrage.
Shachar told Israel Radio that Kuntar is an arch-murderer who destroyed his family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. He said releasing him only serves the interests of Hezbollah,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Other critics say it is wrong to exchange living Arab prisoners for dead Israeli soldiers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Nevertheless,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Israeli Cabinet approved the prisoner swap a week ago. Officials say Israel has a responsibility to bring its servicemen home,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], dead or alive.

An officer of NAS (Food Safety Division of Carabinieri Paramilitary Police) looks at eggs found in a stock farm without sanitary precautions ,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
As concerns over the spread of bird flu increase,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Italian police have stepped up controls at sites that could be at risk. Thousands of chickens and eggs were seized by police this week and three egg packaging plants were shut down in southern Italy.
With the number of people infected with bird flu in Turkey increasing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Italian police have stepped up controls to ensure health measures are being implemented correctly in this country.
Thirty thousand chickens and 4,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 eggs were seized in Italy this week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because they were not being handled according to measures designed to guard against bird flu. Mario Pantano heads the police unit in charge of these controls for the south of Italy.
Pantano says the most recent operations took place in the regions of Puglia,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Calabria and in Sicily and involved three farms where hygiene standards were found to be insufficient and not in compliance with the health ministry's code. Police say the seizures were a precaution. Pantano added that samples were taken to check whether the state of health of the chickens is satisfactory, something that should have been done by the farmers themselves.
Pantano says the seized chickens and eggs were not the first,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. There have been similar operations by the police in recent weeks. He said the largest number of poultry has been seized in the region of Calabria,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
But he said there is no reason to be alarmed for the time being,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"I would like to reassure the public because the fact that animals are being seized means that controls are taking place,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," he said. "These are continuing and working. If the tests are negative on the chickens and eggs, they will return to their owners and the situation will go back to normal."
The Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization warned earlier this week that the bird flu that hit Turkey might have already arrived in neighboring countries and urged authorities in those countries to step up efforts to detect possible outbreaks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
A joint team from the World Health Organization and the World Organization for Animal Health is expected to visit the region next week to assess the needs of Turkey's neighbors and check whether precautions are being taken and controls being made,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

Companies have to be careful what you choose to publish online because of the ease with which a message can be recorded and shared offensive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Employees and companies should also be cautious about their online activity,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Absolutely should not do is try to manipulate or eliminate the negative comments about your brand as doing so makes the brand seem indifferent and makes it look like they have something to hide. Instead,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], efficient organization must address and resolve customer complaints.

Inappropriate activities can be recorded through the camera phone and can find its way onto the Internet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where they have the potential to spread at an incredible speed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], tarnishing the reputation of the company and the brand. Most companies and individuals have learned from the mistakes of privacy of the media and as a result are being carried out in a more respectable.
Organizations and individuals have opened their lives daily in the media because we want to be able to connect with others and feel part of something bigger than themselves. With this newfound transparency,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], comes responsibility.
If a person or an organization is not sure whether the materials in their social networking profiles are appropriate,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they should ask whether or not comfortable with his mother or the board of directors looking into the profile. If not,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then you may need to make some changes to your profile to make it less potentially offensive.
Moreover, knowing that their parents can see their profile social media keeps many children engage in inappropriate behavior that can end up online. Social media allows dissatisfied customers to publish their complaints immediately, at the height of his frustration. This offers companies a unique opportunity to gain true insight of the problems customers face when using their product or service.
Social media also allows parents to have better control over the lives of their children. Teenagers are known to give one-word answers in response to the way that their days are, but online social networks allows parents to get an idea of what is really happening in everyday life your child.
These comments are very easy to find in the media,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the organization only has to find the name of your company,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then read the comments and the resulting pages of negative mentions of your brand. Companies should evaluate this critical feedback and use it to improve its products and services while connecting with unhappy customers to solve the problems they face.

Signs of recovery in the real estate market in some upmarket areas are a temporary and local phenomenon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and without a wholesale economic recovery,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], prices will continue to drop,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Construction and Economy Research Institute of Korea said Wednesday.
Although housing prices in some areas including the affluent Seoul districts of Gangnam have recently gone up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "The phenomenon is only limited to housing stock in areas where the price had plummeted in the last two years,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," CERIK said.
The real estate market is seeing a preference for devalued housing stock over expensive new housing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and small and mid-sized housing over large homes due to the recession.

MOVING FORWARD,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Make a list of three or four situations where you let go of your expectations and your "pictures" or plans, and you got an even more desirable outcome. What qualities did you demonstrate to help you let go and give up these expectations or outcomes? What part of your life are you having the most trouble letting go in? What fear(s) prevent you from letting go in this area? What actions could you take to help you let go?
Let Go of Your Ego’s Desires
It's Sometimes Darkest Before the Dawn
This strategy also worked for one of my clients in her fifties. She had recently located to a new area and didn’t have many contacts. Although she hated the on-line resume submittal process, she sent out many resumes and cover letters and got no responses. After months of searching,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she was very discouraged. After she allowed herself to have her feelings, and “gave up” for a while,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she was contacted by an employer and is about to start a wonderful new position that is perfect for her skill set and interests.
A woman in her mid-thirties was very upset when she and her boyfriend broke up. After 5 years, it took her quite a long time to let go of this past relationship. Six months after her break-up, she met a very nice man that actually knew her former boyfriend. This situation felt too close to home and she needed more time to grieve and be on her own. They went out a few times but she still wasn’t really interested in him. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this new man kept in touch with her for another 6 months and she finally decided to let go and see him again. She was surprised at what a good time she had and how much they had in common, and is eager to see him again!
When Something Doesn’t Go Your Way
Letting Go Leads to Success
Author&#039,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych];s Bio:
It’s often hardest to be let go of the outcome when managing our relationships. The old adage of setting someone free can be the most effective technique to helping them find their way home. A man is his thirties loved his girlfriend of 3.5 years. He longed to settle down, get married and have a family. She loved him, but was not ready to make a commitment. When she chose to take advantage of a fabulous 6 month internship 3,000 miles away, he was initially very upset and sad. However, he gained new perspective and insight through coaching from others and realized that he wanted to support her dreams. By letting her go, he let go of his attachment to the picture of what their life together would be. When he visited her in her new location, he fell in love with the area. After 4 months of commuting back and forth, he decided to relocate and they are now planning a wonderful life together in their new locale.

When something isn’t going your way, perhaps it’s time to look at the situation with a different view. Is it time to look into new options or solutions when your initial ideas aren’t bearing fruit? Ask yourself if there are other ways to achieve your goal-or if you your ego is too attached to things working out exactly the way you want. What lessons have you learned in the past when you don’t get what you want?

She vented her anger the next morning to her coach in order to put the situation in perspective. She was shocked and surprised when her offending colleague walked into work later that morning in casual clothes. Her colleague had to stop and buy the casual clothes because someone had vomited on them on the way to work,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], right about the same time as the human resources executive was letting go of her anger and disgust! This is an interesting example of what goes around, comes around!
I had to share this amazing story of how letting go sometimes brings us exactly what we want! A woman in her forties was working as an executive in Human Resources. One of her colleagues told her he would offer her support and then withdrew is when she needed to count on him. She was angry and disgusted with their behavior,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but also wanted to take the higher road in the situation.
The Law of Attraction says that when we desperately desire something, we are conveying to the Universe negative messages that come out of fear, jealousy, greed and hopelessness. When we put too much emphasis on a person/situation/object to create our happiness, we are using forces contradictory to the Law of Attraction which is about flow and freedom. The Law of Attraction manifests our predominant thoughts, so focusing on how unhappy we are without something only creates more lack and emptiness. When we reframe these thoughts and tell ourselves, “Okay, I can live without this”, or “Maybe it’s not meant to be”, we release our attachment to our desired outcome and allow more energy from the Universe to help us reach our goals. I’d like to share these inspiring stories of how letting go of attachment and a specific desired outcome led to peace, love and prosperity for others. I hope these stories will inspire you to let go of something you maybe holding onto and too attached to!
A freelancer in her fifties was very focused on finding new work. She was worried about paying her bills, but decided to let go of getting a job, and wrote a list of the things she wanted to attract. Shortly after writing her list, she got accepted for unemployment after being turned down for months and received a free airline ticket offer. She was also able to rent out her apartment for cash, bringing in the additional money she needed!
In these unpredictable times, it’s easy for us to yearn to know what is going to happen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to be more tied into to knowing what the outcome for most circumstances are. However, it maybe that one of the best strategies for getting what we want is to psychologically release our insistence that things go our way, or keep focusing on our preconceived notions of what we want. This is the same principle of the watched pot not boiling, too much impatient focus may make it harder for us to obtain our desired outcome.
A man in his sixties had been living prosperously off his investment income without working at any particular job. However, when the market crashed in the fall of 2008,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], his income was reduced quite a bit. He looked for jobs for 6 months without any prospects. He began to conclude that maybe he should retire and not enter the workforce. Shortly after he let go of his attachment to having a job,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he received 2 part-time job opportunities that are an ideal fit for what he was looking to do for work.

Crude oil prices Thursday topped $52 a barrel, a four-month high,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as U.S. oil inventories rose less than forecast. But at least one industry executive is predicting lower prices in the future.
It is the second time this week that prices have touched a four-month high. On Tuesday an unexpected jump in oil prices,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], past $51 a barrel,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], triggered the biggest fall off in U.S. stock prices in nearly two years. The market recovered Wednesday and extended its rally Thursday.
Oil prices in New York went above $52 a barrel and then fell back somewhat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
In Washington Wednesday, John Browne, the head of BP,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the London-based multinational that is the largest oil producer in the United States,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said he expects oil prices will eventually stabilize at a lower level.
"The fundamentals [of the market] now suggest that prices might remain relatively high over the long-term average,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but perhaps not as high as they've been in the last year," he said.
In his remarks, made at Washington's Institute for International Economics, the British executive expressed surprise that the international economy has continued to grow even though the price of oil has climbed so high.
"The world seems to have adjusted remarkably smoothly to the increases we've experienced over the past year. I find it remarkable that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], despite the increase in oil prices,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], world economic growth in 2004 exceeded four percent, a 30-year high," he said.
Those growth forecasts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however, are being scaled back for 2005 as Japan has recently slipped into another recession and there was no growth in the last quarter of 2004 in Germany,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Italy and Holland.
But Mr. Browne did hold out the promise of an increase in supplies. He said production will grow as new oil fields come on line in Angola, the Gulf of Mexico,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and in the Caspian Sea.
